Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
