Thomas Tuchel Criticizes Home Fan Atmosphere Despite Comfortable Wales Victory.

Thomas Tuchel expressed his sadness that the England team did not receive stronger backing from the home crowd during their commanding friendly win against Wales on Thursday night.

Tuchel was satisfied to see his team showcase their good form, with strikes from Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the first 20 minutes settling the contest. Yet, he was displeased with the energy at the iconic venue.

“With limited sessions to prepare against a well-trained team and we excelled,” the coach commented. “It could have been 5-0 up at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth goals. It was quiet. We didn’t get any energy back from the crowd. Our team gave their all to win.”

“What more can you give in the first quarter? We prevented them escape. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s sad because the team earned better encouragement today.”

“I maintain my words. There’s nothing more than leading three goals up in a derby. I hoped for a bit more backing in phases where it is challenging.”

“After halftime, to get behind us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It might have aided us to refocus, but that’s the way it went and so be it.”

Squad Decisions Vindicated by Performance

Apart from risking a fight with fans, the manager also caused a stir by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. But the choice was justified by Morgan Rogers delivering another standout performance in the attacking midfield role and getting his first international goal.

“He is what he is,” Tuchel explained. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is fighting for his spot.”

Bellamy Seeks Improvement from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that his team, who host a strong Belgian side in a key World Cup qualifier on Monday, learn from their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“That’s the reason I wanted this friendly,” Bellamy said. “I need to see our current level. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? This performance gives me inspiration.”

Injury Concern for Striker

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn at half-time after hitting a goalpost and is a concern when England face Latvia in Riga in a qualifier on next week.
