Sustainability leaders applauded the prince's involvement. A sustainability expert commented that it would enhance what is anticipated to be a challenging meeting, where global consensus on fresh goals for reducing carbon emissions is necessary.

"Does Prince William presence at Cop a publicity move? Yes. But that doesn't mean it's a poor decision," she remarked. "Cop has historically been as much about so-called 'optics' as it is about negotiations. The Prince's announcement will likely encourage other delegates to commit, and will attract global media."

"I suspect the Prince understands clearly that by showing up, he'll attract millions of eyes to the summit. In an period when global warming consequences are growing, but media coverage is falling, any action that raises awareness should be applauded."

Endorsement from Climate Organizations

An expert from a climate research unit commented: "Everyone must contribute – and any high-profile figure like Prince William, in attendance assisting advocate for the challenging work that is required, is likely a beneficial move."

"The monarch] was in his previous role when he went to Cop26 and pitched in to galvanise talks. I would argue it always requires both of them to participate."

Prime Minister's Attendance Still Uncertain

The British prime minister has not confirmed whether they plans to join the summit, to which all international officials are expected, with many already confirmed. He was strongly criticized by influential environmental voices for seeming hesitant on the commitment recently.

"International representatives should be in the summit location for Cop30. Participation is not optional, it is a demonstration of responsibility. This is the moment to establish more ambitious national commitments and the resources to implement them, especially for preparedness" to the consequences of the environmental emergency.
"The world is watching, and the future will note who was present."
