Diving into an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered numerous engaging creations from small studios. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a character that is truly a piece of poop trying to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a single jump button. Throughout one hundred fifty levels, encounter tough enemies and access a shop to buy outfits for your dung hero.

Time your actions carefully, since one wrong move forces starting over. Jump off bubbles to launch your character higher, navigate fragile platforms, and interact with triggers to open hidden paths. Collect currency for buying challenging game content where things gets crazy.

In terms of design, the game features eye-catching environments and an amazing music score. The retro visual style with moving basic polygons may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although tough to recall similar titles where you play as a dung character, video games often featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make throwables from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, this theme shows up heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, like winning at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is available now on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on PC this November.
